Cassadee Pope: The Voice

Last night Cassadee Pope was crowned winner of The Voice on the Season Three Finale of the hit NBC show. Before auditioning for the reality singing competition, Cassadee was the lead singer of the rock band Hey Monday. The group has been on hiatus since 2011.

The Voice - Season 3

After wowing all four judges with her rendition “Torn,” a song made popular by Natalie Imbruglia in 1998, Cassadee landed a spot on Team Blake. She beat out team members Ryan Jirovec during the Battle Rounds and Suzanna Choffel during the Knockouts, advancing her to the Live Shows.

Cassadee proved to America that she was more than just a punk-rock chick in a punk-rock band. She delivered flawless performances week after week. Not only were her performances consistent, most of her songs landed in the top 10 on the iTunes singles chart. It was cool to see Cassadee take the title. I connected with her from the get go, and she definitely deserved to win.

I’m glad The Voice gives struggling musicians a second chance at achieving their dreams. It’s definitely not an armature competition! Although I was happy with the results, I would have loved to have seen former-Disney star Jordan Pruitt and Artist vs. Poet front man Joe Kirkland make it further in the competition. I couldn’t believe both contestants were eliminated before the live shows even started. My ideal top three would have been Cassadee, Jordan and Joe.
