2013 The Rise of The Girl Band?

2012 seemed like the year of the boy band. Acts like One Direction, The Wanted and Big Time Rush made teenage girls swoon with their pop songs and boyish good looks. Wondering what 2013 will bring? I think it’s time for the ladies to step out into the spotlight and bring back girl power we all loved. Even though girl bands are huge all around the world the last successful girl groups to make it stateside were Danity Kane who split in 2009 and The Pussycat Dolls who failed to find success without lead Nicole Scherzinger. Will 2013 be the year of the girl band? Check out some all girl groups who are set to make a splash this year.

RiseOfTheGirlBand
Destiny’s Child recently announced that they will reunite on stage during the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVII. Since their split in 2005 members Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have gone on to achieve success with their solo careers. It has yet to be confirmed that either this is a full on reunion or a one time performance to promote their new compilation album titled Love Songs. Destiny’s Child was one of the best selling girl groups world wide. A successful reunion could trigger a girl group takeover. Take a listen to their comeback singe “Nuclear” (below).

The Saturdays are proving they have what it takes to make it in America. After a string of top ten hits in the UK band members Una Healy, Rochelle Humes, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford and Vanessa White are documenting their journey to crack the states in the E! reality show Chasing The Saturdays. Some may refer to them as The Spice Girls 2.0, which the girls say is an incredible complement, but I think The Sats have something more to offer. As a fan I’m excited to see what the US has to offer these talented ladies. Check out one of my favorite Sats songs “Notorious” (below).

Fifth Harmony has recently been signed to Epic Records via Syco Music. After auditioning for The X Factor USA individually Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui became a manufactured girl group assembled by mentor Simon Cowell. The group surprised America when they finished third place during season two of the FOX singing competition. From their very first performance together as a group I believed there was something special about these five. Even though they didn’t win the title of The X Factor this girl group will find a great deal of success this year. Check out their rendition of “Anything Could Happen” by Ellie Goulding (below).

Little Mix won The X Factor UK’s eight season in 2011. Like Fifth Harmony, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall all auditioned for the hit show as solo acts. After joining forces to become Little Mix the British four-piece became a hit with The X Factor audience. Their debut album DNA reached number three on the UK charts. Even though they are a new band, will 2013 be they year they try and bring their music stateside? I think they’re amazing. Be sure to watch the music video to their hit single “DNA” (below).

Who knows what the future holds, but I think 2013 will be the rise of the girl band. Destiny’s Child, The Saturdays, Fifth Harmony and Little Mix will are only the beginning of the girl power comeback. I’m excited to see what other groups make it big this year. I’d love to see The Pussycat Dolls (the original line-up) and Danity Kane (hey, it could happen) reunite this year. Which girl group would you like to see rise above this year? I ❤ the Pussycat Dolls so much. They are extremly talented powerful funny and sexy Divas, In 2009 they are split up? Because the exotic beauty Nicole Kea has jeleous from Ashley Robert and many other misunderstood reson, I Think they best group in the world they can't defeat by "Spice Girls" Nicole her voice is so powerful she sing alone without background dancer (Ashley,Kimberly&Jessica) but Melody Thronton Her voice is sweet but she doesn't lead Voice without Nicole Scherzinger. I want to See Pussycat Dolls In This year Again, PCD this is n't time fight yourself, U have to fight with Spice Girls,Destiney Child and many other stupid Girlsband! When PCD has split Spice Girls Girls Aloud and other group are Glad because they think they will famous again.
    Pcd is the best…
